Insecticide

For the many smallholder farmers in Ghana across crop groups, pest management not only is paramount but must be affordable and sustainable. These products are critical to enable farmers to increase yields while protecting crops from pests, disease and weeds.

Agrokhem, however, is keenly aware of the health and environmental concerns as well as pest resistance brought about by the overuse of such agro-chemicals.

After conducting extensive research to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of such products, Agrokhem has, since 2017, distributed Seizer 100 EC to various farmer groups in the region. Seizer 100EC’s active ingredient is bifenthrin at 100 gL-1 and has been tested and recommended for pest control by the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG) at the field rate of 150 mL ha-1.

In addition to the CRIG tests and recommendations of the use of Seizer 100 EC, Agrokhem engaged a team of agronomists to conduct an independent survey across the Eastern Region cocoa growing districts of Ghana.
